AJFROTC

HISTORY:


Air Force Junior ROTC was founded under Public Law 88-647, called "The ROTC Vitalization Act of 1964."  Our unit, SC-072, was established at Belton-Honea Path High School in September 1972.



THE MISSION PURPOSE OF THE JROTC PROGRAM


The mission of the AFJROTC program is to "Develop citizens of character, dedicated to serving their nation and community."  “The purpose of the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps is to instill in students in United States secondary educational institutions the value of citizenship, service to the United States, personal responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment.” Specifically, the goal of the AFJROTC program is instill in high school cadets the values of: citizenship, service to the United States, personal responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment.  


In support of this mission, the AFJROTC program strives to:

  1. Promote patriotism

  2. Develop informed and responsible citizens

  3. Develop habits of orderliness and respect for authority

  4. Develop self-reliance, discipline and leadership

  5. Develop awareness and detailed understanding about aerospace and aerospace-related topics

  6. Develop awareness and understanding of the basic elements of the military and national security

  7. Develop respect for the need for continued authority in a democratic society

  8. Develop an awareness in the fundamental of wellness

  9. Develop an awareness of physical fitness

  10. Develop an awareness of the needs of the community
